Classes and Beautification Contest
Bring Out the BEST in Neighborhood
Our Historic East Bayfront Neighborhood is
rapidly becoming one of Erie’s most beautiful thanks
to local green thumbs and hard working volunteers. Members
of the Neighborhood Watch plant and maintain gardens at Levy
Park, the intersection of Holland Street and the Bayfront Parkway,
curb gardens on Parade Street and two traffic triangles, one
at 6th and East Avenue and the other at 6th and Parade.
Gardening classes, taught
by Penn State Master Gardeners and sponsored by the Erie Community
Foundation led to BEST’s first annual beautification
contest.
Thirteen local businesses
sponsored the contest that attracted 22 entries. Prizes were
awarded at the September 10th quarterly meeting of the East
Bayfront Neighborhood Watch and BEST.
