Triangle ablaze in color
From dull brown
to spectacular. It seems as though it was only yesterday that
we were preparing the flower beds at East Avenue and Sixth
Street for winter. Spring came fast this year but with a little
help from our friends at the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy
and the students at Wayne Middle School the traffic triangle
will once again be blooming and brightening the day for drivers
passing by. May 23rd was planting day and 12 students from
Wayne Middle School helped plant over 2,000 petunias and salvia.
A special thanks to the City of Erie for providing a mountain
of compost to help the flowers grow and the Erie Water Authority
for providing a way to water the flowers during the long hot
summer.
Steve and Jean Urash helped
keep last years’ garden beautiful.

Wayne Middle School student gives the planting experience a big
thumbs up! We do too.

It’s back breaking
work to move a mountain of compost but students kept at it
until the bitter end. We can’t thank them enough for
all their help.
