Erie Mayor Richard Filippi Recognizes
B.E.S.T with the 2004
Mayor’s Neighborhoods
First Award of Excellence

Erie, Pa – On Thursday, July 1, 2004 in the Sam Black Conference Room
at Erie Insurance, Erie Mayor Richard E. Filippi will award the Bayfront Eastside
Taskforce (B.E.S.T) with the 2004 Mayor’s Neighborhoods First Award of
Excellence.
B.E.S.T, the first ever recipient
of the award, is a non-profit partnership of private industry,
small business and neighborhood
residents, who by working together, have rehabbed numerous
homes and neighborhoods in Erie’s eastside bayfront area
over the last twelve years.
“The Bayfront Eastside Taskforce is very deserving of
this award and has done a tremendous job in revitalizing Erie’s
First Neighborhood,” said Mayor Filippi. “B.E.S.T.
serves as a model of how cooperation, commitment and vision
can bring about real change.”
“B.E.S.T is thrilled to receive the Mayor’s First
Annual Neighborhoods First Award,” said Sue Moyer, B.E.S.T
executive director. “We are grateful for the recognition
of our progress in Erie’s Eastside Bayfront Neighborhood.
The wonderful public and private partnerships we have formed
over the last few years are the main reasons for our success.”
